Into the Night ...

Following the excellent talk from Michael Wilson at the club, a few of us went up to London to meet Michael, aka @atikus, and walk some of of his favourite haunts.

We met up in the early evening at The Picturehouse Central on the corner of Great Windmill Street and Shaftesbury Avenue.

Site of the old Trocadero, an upmarket version of the J. Lyons corner shops; it has been converted into a state of the art cinema complex whilst the foyer, where we met, gave a healthy nod to the building's past ... the addition of the red neon signs made it an excellent place to start warming up with the cameras.

As we walked the streets of Soho, there were various stops en route where we could regroup, listen to tips and advice from Michael and see how we were getting on with the various challenges he was setting us on our way round.

At different points, we were looking at making obscured portraits, using slow shutter speeds, creating silhouettes, reflections and capturing public transport.

Well, by the time we got far, our enthusiasm had taken us an hour or more past the time we were supposed to be finishing ... and Bridport Camera Club, being the club that we are, were just free wheeling by then.

We had an excellent evening and Michael did an excellent job of herding the bumpkins that were up from Dorset.
