Other Club Activities ...
In addition to the events published in the main Programme, there are various other activities organised by the club throughout the year, details of which are sent only to members.
Special Interest Groups
These are a great way for groups of enthusiastic members to focus on a particular area of photography that excites them, getting together online or in person to share their passion. We want to encourage more groups to start up - there are
endless possibilities...
The Impressions Group
Explore the potential of seeing the world differently through your camera or smartphone. The Impressions Group uses intentional camera movement, multiple exposure and computer techniques to make impressionistic images that evoke atmosphere or emotion or make intriguing abstracts. View the Gallery and join us to create the world differently.
The Nature Group
This group is for members to improve their nature photography, their knowledge of natural history and good photographic locations in the area. The group looks at all aspects of natural history including landscapes. As well as field trips there will be ad hoc 'Challenges' and Zoom meetings to review our photos.

Mentoring Group

We meet several times a year to share knowledge and give guidance to those who want to improve their skills and understanding. These sessions offer an opportunity for newer members to have feedback on their work in an informal setting. We are very keen to hear from members what topics they would most like us to cover. There is a small fee to cover the cost of room hire.

Workshops and outings
Recent workshops have ranged from practical sessions using vintage lenses or studio lighting to a challenging 2 day course on 'A sense of Place' led by Paul Hill MBE and Maria Falconer FRPS. We want to keep the programme relevant so members' suggestions are always welcome. There may be a charge for some workshops.
We have occasional group outings which may be to local woodland, to a town for street photography or to a local event. Suggestions and volunteers to help are always welcome.

Distinctions Group

The Distinctions Group is run by members of local camera clubs. They meet every other month in Dorchester. The group helps members who are aiming to gain a photographic distinction, such as the PAGB Awards for Photographic Merit, RPS Distinctions or other similar projects, by providing general advice and critique. There is a small fee each evening to cover the cost of room hire. Contact the committee for further information.
