Programme of events
31-10-18 Chris Hilton ... Sharing some of the secrets that helped him win the amateur section of The Documentary Photographer of the Year with a talk on 'Telling a Story'. Followed by 'Contemporary Travel Photography' ... it's not about sunsets, selfies or social media likes but it did help him become a finalist in the Wanderlust Travel Photo of the Year.
14-11-18 Competition - Telling a Story – Tim Booth whose book ‘A Show of Hands’ brought him international recognition will be returning to the club with his engaging judging style (one entry per person, up to five images in one entry)
21-11-18 Print Workshop with Rosie Mathisen ... a chance to get to grips with getting some of those pictures to leave the computer screen
28-11-18 Barnikel Memorial Evening and 25yrs Celebration. A review of images past and a chance to raise a glass in memory of the man who started it all.
12-12-18 Open Knockout Competition ... judged by club members but Alison Webber (shortlisted for Outdoor Photographer of the Year) and Joy Uglow (one of our more creative photographers) will be asked to comment on entries before judging commences.
January – Photographing birds using hides at Happy Return, the wildlife garden of photographer Colin Varndell
09-01-19 Creative Evening showcasing work from members past and present ... the evening will range from Infrared, alternative printing processes (Cyanotype), through abstract to 360 degree photography presented by Simon Nobes, Jill Hunt, Joy Uglow and Mervyn Higgs
30-01-19 Comp – Space – John Tilsley
13-02-19 Comp – Nature Judge TBC
27-02-19 Janet Haines – well known throughout the UK and Europe, she is now busy making a name for herself in America. She is a longstanding friend of our club and will be returning with a talk on Creative Photography, both in the camera and in post processing
13-03-19 Cold Places – John and Di Tilsley. There is nothing more that John and Di like than going on holiday and getting really cold! They will often cross country ski through the Scandinavian Wilderness taking pictures that are much more evocative than descriptive.
20-03-19 Bring in your favourite photography books (small discussion groups where we all hope to find something new)

24-04-19 "A Year in the Country" presented by one of the founding members of the club, Colin Varndell. Colin has twice been a winner of ‘International Garden Photographer of the Year’ and despite being internationally renowned his work is based right here ... come along and be inspired at our yearly, ticketed event. 08-05-19 AGM and Chairman's Challenge – Garden Photography
June/July will see two trips by the BCC Nature Group to photograph Orchids and Butterflies with Colin. Contemporary Summer Workshop with Paul Hill MBE (founding member of The Royal Photographic Society Contemporary Group) and Maria Falconer FRPS ... details to be arranged.
