Charlie Wheeler - Tuli, Botswana - bridportcameraclub
After completing my degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare, I wanted to travel and undertake some practical conservation and research work. African Conservation Experience was the organisation that I went through and I chose one of their projects to go to in Tuli, Botswana.

My main aim was to assist and learn about African conservation and surviving in the bush. This was well and truly achieved and at the same time provided me with some perfect opportunities to takes some photos of the wonderful wildlife.

Lunchtime! (Yellow-billed Hornbill with Locust ... My personal favourite photo of the trip. My tip here is to always have your camera ready to roll! I was on the tracker seat of our vehicle, which is basically a seat strapped to the bonnet and I was the ‘eyes’, spotting anything I could and a at night I was entrusted with a torch to look out for eyes. I had my camera on my lap and as we approached this Hornbill and slowed up I was already taking photos as I knew it was eating. As soon as we stopped the bird flew away, but being on the ball I had already captured the photo I wanted.
